A newly designed MED-TVC desalination system by “fischer eco solutions GmbH” was installed with a client from the field of agricultural greenhouse farming in South Australia in January 2012. The system has a nominal daily (24 hours) capacity of 10 m³ fresh water and is fired by heat from concentrating parabolic collectors (CSP).

The collector field is tracked for the diurnal variations of the suntrace in order to optimize energy yield, the derived heat is stored in hot water tanks for 24 hours per day operation of the system. The system was realized for the first time in that configuration and encourages the potential of MED-CSP water production of up to 1,000m³ daily.
