Claus Mertes and Hans-Ulrich Baldes as guest speakers at water forum for the EMA Region in Hamburg

On March 11th/12th 2010 the Chamber of Commerce, Hamburg/Germany organizes a water forum for the countries of the EMA-Region.

This multilateral Conference in Arab and German language will bring together experts of the water sector from Germany and the EMA region in order to facilitate advance cooperation in the broad range of water management and technology.

Our general manger, Claus R. Mertes and one of our board members, Hans-Ulrich Baldes (WWWS AG) have been asked to talk about seawater desalination at this event.   more »

Third submission of the Muelheim Water Award starts in 2010

The third submission of the Muelheim Water Award 2010 starts in the beginning of next year. During the coming submission, applications concerning the topic “Progress in Water Supply and Sanitation” can be submitted from 1st January 2010. The application period will close on 28th February, 12.00 a.m. CET.

The Muelheim Water Award is given to outstanding projects concerning practical research and/or implementation of innovative concepts implementation of innovative concepts that contribute to an improvement of water management in Europe. This also includes engineering, planning and consulting services. The Award will be assigned every two years.

The Muelheim Water Award, endowed with 20,000 €, is addressed to national and international applicants from all over Europe.

MVC-180

Current Desalination Project of the MEDESA GmbH in Saudi Arabia

The MEDESA GmbH has delivered the first desalination unit to the customer Al Marshad Group for the industrial area in Yanbu, Saudi Arabia. The installed unit is a MVC/MED-180, which is working on the principle of Mechanical Vapour Compression (MVC) and Multiple-Effect Distillation (MED) and it produces 180 m³ of drinking water per day.

The Al Marshad Group already has ordered three additional desalination units with a capacity of 250 m³ water per day each.
